In the article "Be a TED Fellow" by David Warlick, he talks about a program to find new ideas from people around the world and help them expand there ideas. They could be based on technology, art, architecture, music, film, science, literature, and many more. I think this is a great idea to possibly help our economy and maybe the world. I think that there are many great minds out there that could be opened up by this program.

In the article “The New Literacy” by Clive Thompson, he explains how technology is a new form of writing. He says “Before the internet, most Americans never wrote anything… Unless they got a job that required producing text, they’d leave school and virtually never construct a paragraph again.” Every day more people are using technology to construct paragraphs. This article relates to Dr. Wesch’s video “The Machines are using us” and Mr. Fisch’s video “Did You Know?” because of how they all talk about people and technology. Dr. Wecsh explains how technology is a very big part of society, Mr. Fisch explains how the world uses technology to communicate, and Clive Thompson explains how we us technology as a new form of writing.
Overall, Clive Thompson explains how technology is a new form of writing.

In the article “Quiet gender gap hits collegiate balance” from The Post Editorials explains the gap between males and females in college. It also explains how girls are more likely to graduate and get better grades than men. This article states “… in the fall of 2001, 45.4 percent of the students enrolled in public colleges in Colorado were males. By 2005 the proportion declined to 44.4 percent…” This is leading to girls with better grades getting declined to colleges and men with worse grades getting accepted just to keep the amount of males up. But it’s easy to see that it started in elementary school and not college. In a study, about 50 percent of males will be more likely to have to repeat a grade in elementary than females according to U.S. Department of Education. Men are also one third more likely to drop out of high school and twice as likely to have a learning disability. Only 65 percent of male students are graduating while 72 percent of female students are graduating. Overall in this article the gap between women and men in college is rapidly growing over the years.
In the article "Women raise the bar at colleges" by Tamar Lewins, it explains how women are more likely to graduate than men because women party less, get better grades, and are the majority in colleges. Socializing has a big effect on students and their grades. Socializing equals less studying which equals bad grades. This is one reason why more women graduate compared to men. Because of less socializing, women also get better grades. Good grades are a key to graduating and getting a high-quality and well paying job. It’s also what all colleges look at to decide if you will be accepted to attend their college. Since women are more likely to get better grades than men, they are the majority in colleges. Only 42% of men make up the nation’s college students. Because women party less, get better grades, and are the majority in colleges, they are more likely to graduate than men.

What matters to me in the video "Did you Know" by Karl Fisch is the fact that America is so technologically and educationally advanced. One example of a technologically advanced reason would be myspace. If myspace were it's own country it would be the fifth largest country in the world. The average American checks his or her myspace at least 30 times a day. Also,the amount of texting in the U.S. The amount of texts sent by every American would equal more than the worlds population. Some educationally advanced reasons would be the amount of jobs available to to the average learner compared to Europe. The average learning American has 10 to 14 available jobs. But in Europe the average learner has only 4 to 6 jobs available. Another educationally advanced reason would be how many books are published a day. Up to 3,000 books are published a day. Oh, did I mention that they are newly written books. Overall, America is very fortunate to be so technologically and educationally advanced.
